The Synkro Race organization has officially published the competition schedule and heats for the Open and Pro categories ahead of the event taking place this Saturday, September 5, at the Parc del Fòrum venue, as part of the Extreme Barcelona event. We are also sharing the teams by heats that will be competing:

Logistics and accreditation process

The accreditation tent will be located at the main entrance of the venue, and check-in will be open continuously from 10:00 a.m. Each pair must check in at least 1 hour and 30 minutes before their assigned start time.

To complete accreditation, athletes must present their original ID and proof of registration.

Format, synchronization, and key rules

Synkro Race stands out as a functional partner event where teamwork is crucial. In exercises labeled as synkro, a movement will only be counted if both team members perform the repetition simultaneously. The rulebook also includes specific competition regulations:

  • Running: Athletes must maintain a maximum distance of 5 meters between them at all times during running segments.
  • Finish line: Both team members must cross the finish line holding hands.
  • Timing: Timekeeping will be handled by Championchip. Each pair will receive a single chip attached to a wristband, which one team member must wear on their ankle throughout the event to record splits and total time in real time.

Technical overview of the workout blocks

Judges will assess the validity of movements according to the following competition standards:

  1. Block 1: Walking lunge synchro (timed when the knee touches the ground and when fully extended at the top) and SkiErg after judge validation of the monitor.
  2. Block 2: KB Swing synchro (at the highest point of the movement; Russian in Open and American in Pro) and KB Carry with weights adapted by category (2×24 kg men, 2×16 kg women, and mixed 1×24 kg + 1×16 kg).
  3. Block 3: Box desynchro (both step-up and jump are performed out of sync: when one athlete is on top, the other must be on the ground) and RowErg.
  4. Block 4: Worm burpees synchro (synchronization measured when the chest touches the ground and when jumping over the worm) and Worm Carry, with the obligation to return the load at the end.

Services, recovery area, and facilities

Participants will have access to a warm-up area, a bag drop service, and hydration stations along the course and at the finish line. After finishing, athletes will receive refreshments and have access to a recovery area located in the Zona de Banys del Fòrum, right next to the competition venue.
